It all started few weeks ago when I participated a national TV quiz and became a runner-up. Apart from some money I gained a popularity: since then passers-bye quite often recognize me.

He seemed to be waiting for something or somebody, and indeed in 5 minutes a girl appeared at the door. Or shall I say 'above' instead of 'at'? She had to stoop entering the cafe, and then straightened inside (she was about 20 y.o., thin, with splendid blond curly hair, in black shirt, long black skirt and flat black shoes), and her chin rose as high as the top of the door of that old cafe with not very high ceiling and doorframes. I wasn't into the tall girl, but my jaw dropped.

Comparing to her he looked not that tall at all: she was at least 15 cm (6 inch) taller than he was! My amazement was interrupted with the melody of mobile. The friend I was waiting for said, she wouldn't come for some reason. For me it meant another lone night. Disappointed, I tried to lighten a cigarette but found that my lighter got out of fuel. Completely upset, I stood up and came to the bar to borrow matches from a bartender.

The tall couple was drinking cocktails but once I came closer the girl pushed her friend and said, 'Look at that guy!' Then, she turned to me, bent down and asked, 'Are you the guy from a tele?'
'Yes, I am', I replied looking for a bartender.
'Wow, cool', she said. 'I'm Katie, this is Paul, and you're..'
'Nick'
'Sure, now I recall: Nick. Well, you're famous now, aren't you?' Katie turned to Paul and claimed, 'I always wanted to have a TV-star as a friend. But', she added turning to me, 'I thought you were a bit taller'.
'You always imagine people taller then they are', said Paul smiling. 'But they never happen to be taller than yourself, do they?'
'Stop teasing me! He calls me giantess and makes laugh on me', she complained to me. 'How tall are you anyway?'
'Okay, I know what's gonna follow', suddenly said Paul, rising on his tip-toes and kissing Katie's cheek, 'I gotta go'.
'See you', replied Katie and after he left added, 'Paul always has a job to do.. You know, I'm so glad to meet you, Nick! You were really cool at the show.. It's a shame that old bitch won at last! By the way, I have a couple of guests tonight; I bet they would be happy to meet you.. And.. One more thing.. Don't take my relationship with Paul in the wrong way: he's just my friend, I like him but rather like I would like a female friend: he's a gay, you know..'
She seemed to talk too much, but despite that - and that was pretty odd - I liked Katie: she was definitely very open and kind person and a beautiful young lady. The only thing I was worrying about was the height difference: the top of my head was clearly below her shoulders. I had never talked to anybody this tall before and felt a bit shy. Besides, it wasn't very convenient to have a conversation the way we were standing: I had to painfully crane my neck while she was forced to fold in her waist. But Katie didn't seem to bother, so I decided, it would be stupid to reject her invitation: I was free, I was attracted to this girl and intrigued with her amazing height and face and body..
